The Housing Authority operates 22 federally funded housing projects throught Luzerne County.The program includes 1,352 units in sizes ranging from efficiency to five bedroom apartments.In addition to Federal projects, the Housing Authority also owns and operates Horizon Village and Wright Manor in Mountaintop. As well as affordable private rentals scattered through out the county. An apartment building for the elderly is currently under construction in West Hazelton.The Section 8 program is a partnership between the private landlord who supplies the housing and agrees to the Authority's standards; and the family or individual who selects their own unit and pays 30% of their adjusted income for rent.
